Parents and students are invited to participate in the Mental Illness and Substance Use Awareness Forum at the Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield on February 11

The Conner Sheehan Fund is sponsoring a Mental Illness and Addiction Awareness Forum on Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield.

These two problems exist not only in Ridgefield, but in every city in this country. Instead of being in denial, Ridgefield stands out as a city that wants to be proactive in raising awareness, supporting and making a difference.

Barbara and Dan Sheehan lost their son, Connor, to Xanax containing fentanyl, purchased over the Internet. The mission of the Fund is to provide support for programs that help families, educators and peers identify mental health disorders and substance abuse among young people.

Geri Blair will host the program.

The event features a large list of speakers, including first coach Rudy Marconi, three psychologists/therapists, HRH chief counselor Mike Flynn, executive director of the Boys and Girls Club of Ridgefield, a high school student, member of the police of Ridgefield Department, and Dan Sheehan, president of the Connor Sheehan Fund.

Speakers will have approximately five minutes to share their expertise. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions. The hope is that all participants, parents and students, will leave with a sense of support and confidence, and “Hope surrounded by love”.
