JENI’S SUNSHINE FLAVOR RAISES AWARENESS OF CHILDREN’S MENTAL HEALTH

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month and in partnership with On Our Sleeves®, the children’s mental health movement, Jeni’s is launching Sunshine Ice Cream

Columbus, Ohio, April 28, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Today, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams is launching Sunshine, the faux gray but lemony ice cream, in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month and in partnership with On our sleeves®the movement to break the stigma around children’s mental health.

Sunshine is designed to get people talking. Inspired by Depressed pastry, it looks as gray as a rain cloud, but tastes like a ray of sunshine. A fun game on the mind and a pleasant reminder that things are not always what they seem.

Sunshine aims to raise awareness and spark conversations about children’s mental health. Jeni’s is proud to donate $25,000 to help On our sleeves® distributing kindness kits to 30,000 children in classrooms nationwide. Each kit includes a curriculum and activities for children to learn and practice kindness together. Additionally, Jeni’s accepts donations to support On our sleeves® in scoop shops all May.

Even before the pandemic, we were seeing alarming trends in children’s mental health,” notes Dr. Ariana HoetPh.D., pediatric psychologist at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and clinical director of On our sleeves®. “That’s why it’s important to provide parents, caregivers, and teachers with resources and information to better understand the children in their lives. By having meaningful conversations and developing daily check-in habits, we equip children the resources they need to build their mental well-being and feel comfortable asking for help when they need it.We are so excited about Jeni’s commitment to supporting pediatric mental health and to continue these conversations around a scoop of Sunshine.

Jeni’s has also teamed up with the streetwear brand lonely ghost on a Sunshine inspired hoodie to enjoy On our sleeves®. The hoodie drops at the Lonely Ghost site on May 4 to 9 p.m. EST and should sell out quickly.

Sunshine is available in-store and online at jenis.com. Throughout May, Jeni’s stores will also feature conversation starters from behavioral health experts at On our sleeves® to spark conversations with kids, inviting ice cream fans to check in around a scoop of Sunshine.
